Join us for the campaign year in review! Our 2006 Campaign kicked off with the Day of Caring on Wednesday, August 23, where many corporate and civic groups and agencies formed teams and pitched in to help our partner agencies complete projects from painting to landscaping to cleaning and more.
The Annual Mid-Campaign Luncheon was held on Monday, October 23 at Ontario's Brown Derby RoadHouse. Over 150 United Way supporters were on hand to see the winners of this year's Pilot Campaign as they were awarded their traveling trophies. The winner of the most dollars raised during the Pilot Campaign was Mr Box/Sky Box, with $7197.18. Kohl's Department Store won for the highest percent of increase over last year with an increase of 84%. An honorable mention was awarded to Auto Workers Credit Union who increased their giving by 45% over last year.
Our campaign received a great kick-off with the check from UAW/GM in the amount of $3500 (shown below left), along with a donation of $9000 from the AFL/CIO. The Prosecutor's Office made a unexpected contribution of $8,117.72 to the 2006 campaign. Below (center)is a picture of Executive Director Skip Allman and Kathy Moore, Development Marketing Director accepting the check from Jim Mayer, Richland County Prosecutor. On the right, Quarter Master Don Heidecker, Commander Chuck Sloan and Adjutant Larry Moore from Alfred I Harrington VFW Post 3494 present Skip Allman and United Way Labor Liaison Ken Estep with a check for $7350.
Board Members and staff turned out for the Lexington Avenue Kroger Superstore's Grand Opening. Kroger store manager John Linsdau presented a $300 check to the United Way at the event.
Westbrook was the site of our Annual Pillar Dinner, held on November 9. Eighty-five attendees were serenaded by well-known entertainer and RSVP volunteer, Eddie Blu.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, several of our partner agencies were presented checks recently. The total gift of $105,000 was designated directly to the agency programs. Seen below (left to right) are and Marte Alsleben and Jalane Miller from MedCentral Hospice; Veronica Groff from The Center for Individual and Family Services; Dana Traxler, Visiting Nurse Association of Mid-Ohio; and Brenda Phillips and Captains Marci and Randy Orr, of the Salvation Army - all receiving their checks from United Way Director, Skip Allman.
At a press conference on Friday, January 19, 2007 we announced that our goal had been reached! A total of $1,954,262.24 was raised, taking us to 100.74% of goal. Below is a picture of our happy staff after this exciting news!
